Why do we gamble?
Many people have been asking the same questions! Why do we gamble? and why do we continue to gamble after losing so much money?
First of all, many of us start out gambling for fun and entertainment. After so many years of gambling....it becomes a bad habit. It no longer is fun anymore and we start wanting our money back. There are many different phases that most of us go through. First, it is all fun and games, we have beginners luck and get lucky and win a bunch of money. (That is what happened to me! I won a freeroll online playing poker and won $1,400. After that I have never been a winning player since!)
2nd it is just a bad habit.....and problem gamblers believe they can win again. "If I did it the first time I can do it again." Soon the money you won the first time is gone and you are using your own money and not your winnings. From there we just get deeper and deeper in debt. Gamblers go gamble and make excuses that there is nothing else fun to do. That is an example of a person in denial....when they can't seem to find anything else fun to do they are in denial! A gambler gambles to escape the frustration and reality of life. When in reality.....Life wouldn't be that frustrating and stressfull if we could just stop gambling. After losing a small amount gambling....problem gamblers can't quit until they are satisfied. Which seems to be never because if we win then we want more and if we lose we want the money back. If any of this sounds familiar, then you know that you need help! Gambling becomes a major disorder and most people can't quit on their own. Just try to play a trick on your mind and see how long you can do it. Tell your self: "I can't win no matter what I do." The only way to win is to stop gambling! For all of you online poker players that are reading this: You may think you are a professional and you are not addicted to gambling! But remember, the cards will only fall your way temporarily. Many people believe poker
(texas-hold-em) is a game of skill! Well it isn't.....It is luck and you are at a disadvantage because the house (casino/poker room) takes so much rake (money) out of the pots you could be winning. Also, many poker players have what they call a bankroll, which is a set amount of money to gamble with. Without a bankroll......problem gamblers are just going to be using money they don't have. There are also several of us out there that just believes there is a way to win....we think that we are just unlucky and our winning time will come. Well guess what.....If it does, will it be an amount to make up for all those desperate years of losing? If you answered "no" to that question, then you need to stop gambling. If not you are going to just keep losing. STOP GAMBLING IS THE ONLY WAY TO WIN!
